Description/Blazon
The Orion Constellation is a special tribute to one of the youngest Medal of Honor recipients, Orion P. Howe.  A musician for the 55th Illinois Infantry, he earned his medal during the Siege of Vicksburg.  His citation reads as follows:  "A drummer boy, 14 years of age, and severely wounded and exposed to a heavy fire from the enemy, he persistently remained upon the field of battle until he had reported to Gen. W.T. Sherman the necessity of supplying cartridges for the use of troops under command of Colonel Malmborg."  The stars making up the constellation are similar in shape to the star on the Medal of Honor that Orion received.
